THE TOWERS FAMILY SAGA
Episode 93
"Show yourself, Towers!" the
masked leader roared, his
weapon leveled at the light.
Robert held up his empty
hands, keeping his composure.
"I am standing right here."
Minnie dived under the desk,
her fingers flying to secure
the encrypted data uploads.
"The download is at ninety!"
she hissed to Dorothy nearby.
"Keep them busy, Robert!"
Dorothy kicked a heavy lever,
releasing a venting blast of
superheated steam that filled
the room with a thick haze.
"Now!" Dorothy screamed out.
The Enforcers shouted in
alarm, firing blindly into
the white, swirling fog.
Elias darted through the
shadows, dragging a backup
generator to the exit point.
"This shop is a fortress!"
Robert yelled through the
steam, his voice booming.
"You cannot conquer us!"
He grabbed a heavy wrench
from the workbench and held
it like a rusted scepter.
"We have the evidence now!"
The leader lunged forward,
catching Robert in the gut.
Robert gasped, falling back
against the server racks.
Virginia let out a scream,
rushing to pull him away.
"Leave him alone!" she cried,
shoving the masked attacker.
"We have already uploaded!"
The leader froze, looking
at the blinking light on
the master control terminal.
"It is too late for you,"
Minnie said, standing tall.
"The city has the truth."
Sirens suddenly drowned out
the sound of the struggle.
Actual police cruisers had
surrounded the warehouse.
The Enforcer leader glared,
realizing their time was up.
"This is not over, Towers."
"It never will be," Robert
coughed, wiping his mouth.
The attackers fled outward,
vanishing into the night.
Robert collapsed, breathless.
"Did we win?" Virginia
sobbed.
"We survived," Robert sighed.
"That is our first win."
