THE TOWERS FAMILY SAGA
Episode 92
The detective stepped inside,
his eyes darting around the
glowing, humming workshop.
"Explain this," he demanded,
pointing to the massive unit.
Robert did not flinch, his
back straight as a rod.
"It is the truth, Detective,"
he said, his voice steady.
"The grid was a cage built
on lies and stolen power."
Minnie stepped forward too,
her tone sharp and cutting.
"We just broke the locks."
The officer scoffed loudly,
but his hand dropped away
from his holster slightly.
"You caused a total blackout!
People are panicked tonight."
Dorothy moved to the
monitors, showing the live
feed logs.
"We saved the infrastructure
before it could collapse."
He gestured to the metrics.
"Look at the surge levels.
Your corporate masters were
burning it to the ground."
The detective grew quiet,
staring at the raw data.
"They said you were thieves."
"We are the only ones left
paying the bills," Elias
interjected from the shadows.
"Ask the council who paid
for the last upgrade here."
The room grew deathly cold.
The detective's face pale.
"I cannot ignore the law."
Robert took a bold step.
"Then enforce the real law.
Find the stolen millions."
He handed over the drive.
"Everything is on this."
Virginia watched the door,
fearing the backup squad.
"We need to get out now."
Robert ignored her whisper.
"Well, Detective? What now?"
The officer took the file.
His hands shook with doubt.
"If this is real, Towers,
your lives are in danger."
"We have known that," Robert
said, a sad smile forming.
"But we are still standing."
Outside, tires screeched.
More cars had arrived.
"Not the police," Elias
breathed, face turning ash.
"Those are the Enforcers."
Robert grabbed the breaker.
"Everyone, get down low!"
The shop lights dimmed to
a deep, pulsing crimson.
"They want a war tonight?"
Robert whispered to them.
"Then we give them one."
The glass shattered inward.
A heavy boot hit the floor.
The tension was reaching
its boiling point.
"This is the end, Robert,"
a masked man growled out.
Robert stood his ground.
"This is just the start."
