The sun began to dip low.
Light filled the shop.
Robert watched his team.
They were fully engaged.
Elena and the interns
debated thermal rates.
They were solving problems.
It felt truly organic.
"They are good, right?"
Minnie asked softly.
Robert nodded his head.
"They are dangerous."
"They do not know yet."
"They do not know to lie."
"They trust the physics."
Minnie laughed aloud.
"Do not tell them yet."
"Let them be excellent."
Dorothy then appeared.
Her face was very grim.
He waved Robert over.
The air grew quite heavy.
"We had a visitor."
"A utility contractor."
"He did not want a tour."
Robert felt the cold.
"What did he want?"
Dorothy pointed behind.
"He brought a warning."
"The grid is theirs."
"They control the lines."
"If we tie our work in,"
"They will cause a fail."
"A very public disaster."
Robert saw a silhouette.
A man was in his office.
Searching through his files.
This was not competition.
This was pure sabotage.
They wanted to burn them.
"Did you call the law?"
Robert asked quietly.
Dorothy shook her head.
"They say it is civil."
"They will not help."
Robert looked at the team.
They were still laughing.
Oblivious to the threat.
He turned to his family.
Minnie saw his resolve.
Virginia joined the group.
"They want to play games."
Robert tightened his jaw.
"They think we are weak."
"They play by old rules."
"Minnie, start the logs."
"Record every single word."
"Dorothy, lock the floor."
"Keep the project safe."
"If they want to test it,"
"Let them regret the day."
The threat was no longer an
abstract fear; it was a firm
deadline for their survival.
They were done building for
the sake of the future, as
they now had to defend the
foundation they had poured.
The shop transformed into a
fortress, and their hard work
became the primary shield
against the coming sabotage.
Though the enemy had finally
made their move, Robert was
ready to stand his ground,
knowing the truth was the
strongest weapon they had
left.
