        THE REPAIR
Robert and Virginia
spent the entire night
taking the heavy press
apart piece by piece.
The warehouse was
dark, save for their
bright, focused work
lights. "It is the
main gear," Robert
said, pulling the
worn, broken piece
from the steel
housing. "It held up
for a long time, but
it finally gave out
under the load."
Virginia quickly found
the replacement part
in their organized
inventory cabinet.
"We can fix this now,"
she said, her hands
covered in deep, black
machine grease. They
worked with a shared,
intense focus, their
movements in sync
after years of
working side-by-side
in the trade. By the
time the sun began to
peek over the distant
horizon, the press
was fully reassembled.
They tested it with a
small piece of scrap
metal to ensure the
fit was tight. It
worked perfectly. The
heavy press thudded
to life, smooth and
strong once more. They
exhaled together,
feeling a wave of
deep, quiet
exhaustion. "We saved
the schedule," Robert
said, wiping sweat
from his forehead with
a clean rag. Virginia
nodded, leaning
against the frame. "We
keep moving forward."
The shop was still cold,
the stars were fading,
and the task was
finished. The relief was
palpable, the tools were
stowed, and the gear was
replaced. The power was
back, the machine was
ready, and the morning
was close. The coffee
was needed, the bond was
stronger, the fear was
managed, and the victory
was theirs. The day
began well, the team
arrived soon, and the
work resumed. They felt
so capable, the crisis
was over, and the saga
continued. They were the
best, the Towers, and
everything was good.
They were happy, ready
for more, and the press
was working. The work
was fast, and they were
tired but proud. They
were a family who worked
together and stayed
strong. The shop was
ready, they were ready,
and the future was
bright. They were the
Towers, builders of the
future, who kept forging.
The iron was strong and
the work was steady.
They loved the shop and
were a team.
