The garden was silent.
The condo felt tight.
"We cannot sell it!"
Minnie argued with him.
"It is all we have."
"Thorne wants us gone."
"I can take the cash."
"I can start over."
Virginia slammed a hand.
"I did not survive
the knife and the rays
to just run away now."
"I have a trap set."
"You are not well yet."
"I am better than all."
She took her medicine.
"Watch me win today."
Barbara shook her head.
"Is she losing her mind?"
"She is a Towers girl,"
Robert said with pride.
"But he has the board."
"He thinks he has it,"
Virginia said with glee.
"I left a backdoor."
"A code for the supply."
"You played him, Vee?"
"I played them all, Dad."
"The cancer was real."
"But I kept thinking."
The door rattled loud.
James stood there pale.
"He is with the police."
"He has the papers now."
"Let him walk inside,"
Virginia said to them.
"I have a surprise tea."
"Do not do this, girl,"
Minnie pleaded with her.
"We are just family."
"We are soldiers too."
"That is how we win."
The doorbell rang out.
Robert looked at her.
"Are you sure, child?"
"I am very certain."
She walked to the door.
A bloom ready to cut.
"Open it, Father dear."
"Let the fun begin now."
The door swung open.
Thorne stood there now.
"Ready to leave, guys?"
Virginia did not blink.
"Step inside, Mr. Thorne."
"Let us see who leaves."
