THE TOWERS FAMILY SAGA
Episode 106
THE NEW PACE
The condo was quiet as
they arrived that day.
Virginia walked to the
couch, sitting heavily.
"It feels so different."
"It feels like home,"
Barbara said, unpacking.
"No more needles, sis."
"No more treatment."
"Just rest," Robert said,
pouring her some water.
"And those special meds."
"I have them here,"
Virginia said, pulling
the bottle from her bag.
"One a day, correct?"
"Yes, to stop it all,"
Robert said, observing
her closely for signs.
"We stay on the plan."
Shirley walked in then,
her phone in her hand.
"The foundry is steady."
"Production is up, Vee."
"You don't need to work,"
Minnie said to her now.
"You need to heal up."
"I can oversee the data,"
Virginia replied softly.
"It helps me to focus."
"If you feel tired, stop,"
Robert warned his child.
"That is the new rule."
"I promise, Father."
She leaned back in the
cushions, closing eyes.
"It is good to be here."
"It is good to have you,"
Dorothy said, joining.
"The family is whole."
Robert went to the deck.
He looked at the hills.
The saga had reached
a point of profound calm.
The industrial empire
was running on its own.
The medical terror was
receding into the past.
He took a deep breath.
"We did it," he thought.
"We navigated the storm."
"We came out the other
side, stronger than ever."
He turned to the room.
His daughters were all
talking, laughing again.
The sound was the best
thing he had ever heard.
"We are the Towers,"
he said to the sunset.
"And we are still here."
"We are not going away."
"We are just starting."
He walked back inside.
"Dinner is on me tonight."
"Nothing heavy," Vee
teased, smiling at him.
"Just a celebration."
"A celebration of life."
The night was beginning.
The future was bright.
